How enrollment works

This page documents Stormdoor's complete opt-in process — the call to action, the consent disclosures, and the confirmation message every enrolled user receives.

Step 1 — The consent conversation (the call to action)

Enrollment is personal: an account holder (usually the older adult's family member) asks for their consent in person or by phone. The account holder covers every point in this script before enrolling anyone:

“I'd like to sign you up for Stormdoor, a service that checks scam texts and emails for you. If you say yes:

• You'll get text messages from Stormdoor — one welcome text now, and after that only replies when you send something in to be checked.
Message frequency varies with how often you use it.
Message and data rates may apply.
• You can text HELP for help or STOP at any time to opt out.
• The privacy policy is at stormdoor.app/privacy and terms at stormdoor.app/terms — your number is never shared with anyone for marketing.

Do I have your permission to sign you up?”

Only after a clear yes is the person's number enrolled. Consent is never assumed, pre-checked, or bundled with anything else.

Step 2 — The confirmation text

Immediately upon enrollment, the new user receives exactly this message:

Stormdoor: a family member enrolled you in Stormdoor scam protection. Text anything suspicious to this number and we'll check it for you. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. stormdoor.app/privacy

Step 3 — After that, you're in control

Stormdoor never texts first again. Every later message is a direct reply to something the user sent in: an acknowledgment, then one human-reviewed safety verdict. Replying STOP at any point ends all messages immediately; the account holder can also remove any number.
